Download Windows 8 Start Button

Q: Why do I need a start button for Windows 8?
A: Windows 8 is a significant upgrade from previous Windows versions. One of the new features in Windows 8 is a completely new user interface (until recently called "Metro"). Some users may find this new interface hard to use initially and may prefer the traditional Desktop interface. However, Windows 8's desktop mode doesn't feature a start button, which users have been using for many years. Adding a start button to Windows 8 will hopefully make using Windows 8 easier and allow users to discover and enjoy all of its features.

Q: Do I need to configure anything?
A: You can, but you don't have to. Pretty much everything is preconfigured. If you want to customize the start button settings, right click the start button in Desktop mode and choose 'Settings'. Settings for Torch and Media Player Classic can be found inside the applications.

Q: I like having a start button for Windows 8, but I still want to boot into the Metro user interface. How do I do this?
A: Right click the start button in Desktop mode, choose 'Settings' and then click on the 'Windows 8 settings' tab. Uncheck the box next to 'Skip metro screen', reboot and you're done!

Q: What are these other programs that are offered with the Windows 8 start button?
A: Torch is a fast web browser that includes a built-in BitTorrent client, media grabber and easy sharing on Facebook and Twitter. Media Player classic is a full-featured media player that supports all popular audio and video formats, including AVI, MKV, Mp4 and DVD Playback.

Q: Do I have to install the Torch Browser or Media Player Classic?
A: No, these applications are completely optional, but we believe they will are safe and fun to use. Torch is a fast web browser with cool multimedia features, and Media Player Classic has all the codecs you will need to play virtually any audio and video file.

Q: Does Windows 8 start button work on other Windows versions?
A: In principle, yes, but then again you don't need a start button on older Windows versions! The Torch Browser and Media Player classic will work well on different Windows versions.

Q: How do I uninstall?
A: Every application can be uninstalled separately and will not affect other applications. In the Windows Control Panel, go to 'Programs and features' and select 'Uninstall a program'. Choose the program you would like to uninstall from the list.
